{"id":1305,"date":"2020-02-27T14:35:17","date_gmt":"2020-02-27T17:35:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dev.createstorm.com.br\/cambuhy\/?p=1305"},"modified":"2024-01-16T15:51:22","modified_gmt":"2024-01-16T18:51:22","slug":"endangered-carnivore-conservation-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dev.createstorm.com.br\/cambuhy\/en\/uncategorized-en\/endangered-carnivore-conservation-program\/","title":{"rendered":"Conservation program for endangered carnivores"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Camera-Trap Method.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This study focused on monitoring the populations of medium and large carnivorous mammals on Cambuhy farm, with the aim of understanding the landscape use dynamics and population variations in space and time, facilitating discussions on habitat preferences to support local management actions, especially regarding farming production practices, promoting nature conservation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Camera-trap method<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>The farm was divided into <strong>75 squares of 2 km<sup>2<\/sup><\/strong> each.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A total of <strong>25 cameras were installed in the center of <strong>25 previously randomly selected squares<\/strong>. The cameras remained in the field <strong>for 20 consecutive days<\/strong>.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>This methodology was <strong>repeated two more times<\/strong>, totaling 60 days of sampling, covering all 75 squares .<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>During the project, this camera installation cycle will be repeated <strong>10 times over the course of three years<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Results<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Puma (<em>Puma concolor<\/em>): <\/strong>was recorded in <strong>84 events<\/strong>. It was possible to count the presence of at least six different individuals, including a highly robust adult male and female, a young female and two cubs, one very young and one a little older. The possibility of other specimens that could not be individually identified in the photos also being there is not ruled out;.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li><strong>Ocelot (<em>Leopardus pardalis<\/em>): <\/strong>was recorded in <strong> 42 events<\/strong>;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Oncilla (<em>Leopardus tigrinus<\/em>): <\/strong>was recorded in <strong>46 events<\/strong>;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Margay (<em>Leopardus wiedii<\/em>): <\/strong>was recorded in <strong>3 events<\/strong>;<\/li>\n<li><strong style=\"font-size: revert; color: initial;\">Jaguarundi (<em>Puma yagouaroundi<\/em>): <\/strong>was <span style=\"font-size: revert; color: initial;\">recorded in <\/span><strong style=\"font-size: revert; color: initial;\">85 events<\/strong><span style=\"font-size: revert; color: initial;\">;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong>Maned Wolf (<em>Chrysocyon brachy<\/em><\/strong><em><strong>u<\/strong><\/em><strong><em>rus<\/em>): <\/strong>was recorded in <strong>20 events<\/strong>. The records were always of solitary individuals;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Hoary fox (<em>Lycalopex vetulus<\/em>): <\/strong>was recorded in <strong>96 events<\/strong>.
